Fall 2014
Structure of Spanish (SPA 543): Tuesdays, 4:30pm-7:15pm, LL 105
Description: SPA 543 offers an in-depth study of the morphosyntactic system of Spanish from a generative perspective. Even though this course focuses on the internal structure of the phrases and sentences of the Spanish language, students will acquire the necessary analytical skills and theoretical knowledge to examine the morphosyntactic structure of human language as it manifests in different particular languages (i.e. Spanish, English, French, German, Japanese, etc.).
Spring 2014
Spanish Phonetics and Phonology (SPA 544)
Description: SPA 544 is an introductory course at the graduate level that exposes students to the study of the Spanish phonological system using some of the analytical methods and tools most commonly employed in the profession. For instance, students will learn how to analyze speech using Praat and how to design and develop a theoretical and/or empirical study that explores some aspect of the Spanish phonological system. Throughout the course, students will examine the various representations and analyses of the phonological system of Spanish from a theoretical perspective that includes the most recent theoretical frameworks.
